“Celebrate the Light” - Fun event for all children & families

Monday 31st October 6:00 pm - 7.30 pm in Church

“Celebrate the Light” - Fun event for all children & families

Halloween has become a big date in the calendar with children getting dressed up & trick or treating - this can be really scary for younger children and for older people too.

But there is something else you can do and still have fun!!

Why not celebrate the light rather than all things dark and scary.

We invite children & families to “Celebrate the light “at a different type of Halloween event

Lots  of fun crafts for you to make, activities to take part in, fun songs , there will be hotdogs, a little present to take home and YES you can still dress up …….

But ……. we want to see footballers, super heroes, Disney princess or characters or just wear very bright clothes.

Nothing dark or spooky PLEASE and that includes adults too!!! Or you won’t be able to come in!

It’s all Free, bring your friends, mums, Dads, nans, Grandads!

Take an invitation today, for more details speak to any of the Sunday club leaders

*Do please let us know if you’re coming so we have an idea for catering puposes.*

N.B   There will be no uniformed groups taking place on this date

We would value help from any adults on the evening & please do collect empty glass jars & leave at the back of church for one of the crafts.

 Thank you

Music as Mission

Saturday 24th September – 9:30 am ‘til 3:00 pm

Music, in whatever style, can enhance our worship if done well. It can make or break the experience of the liturgy.

This day workshop, run jointly by the Diocesan Liturgy and Worship Forum and the North West Area Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), offers practical experience of using music well in worship, both for those with a great deal of experience and those who have little or none.

Annual General Meeting of the Church Council

On Sunday 17th April in church after the morning service we will be holding the Annual General meeting.

Tthis is when we look at what has happened in the life of St Johns over the past twelve months and vote to elect new PCC members.

As you will be aware as of Sunday 3rd July Roy will sadly no longer be leading the parish, so it is all the more important that you consider making it a real priority to attend this meeting as we look to our future without him .

We also need new PCC members and a new church warden - after many years of loyal dedicated service to St Johns, Marge Juxon feels it is time to step down. We are very grateful for all she has given to the church in this role and she will continue to support and advise on this role.

So what does it take to become  a new PCC member? It’s not a role to take lightly, it requires commitment to attend meetings but is a wonderful way of becoming involved in the life & decision making for the church,  helping to look where we go and what we do .

The role of a church warden is key in the life of a parish; you are taking on some important roles and responsibilities alongside your vicar. You are responsible for the smooth running of your church and are considered by many as a leading member of your church community. Leaflets outlining both the roles of a Church warden and PCC member are available at the back of church for anyone interested in finding out more about either of this roles.

Do please speak with Roy if you wish to be considered for either of these roles as you will need to be nominated.
